Web Hosting Revealed
I decided to share some details about web hosting, that many people actually don't realize.
Nowadays many hosts offer shared hosting with unlimited disk space and unlimited bandwidth. How can anyone reach something like that
with $7 per month shared hosting plans? Simple. Term "unlimited" doesn't refer to CPU power and memory usage, both of which have specified limits.
If you have a moderately popular website, say, 2,000 visits a day, sooner or later it might start crashing, and when server administrators notice that,
you will usually get a friendly note you are exceeding server's capabilities and should consider moving to a better plan.
To sum up, there is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth or disk space - it's just marketing from web hosting companies.
The situation is very similar to "all you can eat" deals a t a restaurant - you actually won't eat forever, and the restaurant has limited ingredients.
Going back to hosting, the trick is that for small websites with low traffic, cpu and memory usage is relatively small, so companies can promise unlimited
things knowing most of their customers will never reach the boundaries.
